Gustau Alegret spoke with Regional Analyst Jose De Bastos on the geopolitical situation in Venezuela.

De Bastos says "soon, we are going to start seeing the direct consequences of what happened on Jan. 23, the day Juan Guaido swore-in as interim president. For instance, we have to see how the Maduro administration handles the diplomatic personnel remaining at the US Embassy.

Uruguay and Mexico have tried to create a different front to deal with the Venezuelan crisis. It remains to be seen whether these governments will look for a solution that includes Maduro's removal, or if they are looking to provide an option for Maduro to remain as head of state, despite mounting international pressure."
